Abstract:
Phosphoglucomutase (PGM), which interconverts between glucose-1-phosphate and glucose-6-phosphate, is a key enzyme of metabolism. PGM is classed into the cPGM (cytosol-localized PGM) and pPGM (plastid-localized PGM). cPGM participates in sucrose metabolism, and pPGM participates in starch synthetic. PGM plays an important role in the plant growth and development. This paper reviews the classification, molecular characterization and function of phosphoglucomutase in plants.Key words: phosphoglucomutase; sucrose metabolism; starch synthetic; plant development
